To build an "en-cycle-pedic" knowledge of routes on tracks and to find new places and meet new faces along the way :-)
For me this means satisfying a passion for exploring and soaking up all the great outdoors has to offer by bicycle ... and on foot if I really have to at times :-)
In 2016 I gained my British Cycling Level 2 Mountain Bike Leader qualification which has helped me take route planning and led cycles to another level. This led me to move from participating in organisation charity tours to self-planned adventures and the freedom these offer.
I am Andrew, aka "Routes", which is a nickname my cycling buddies gave me due to my legendary shortcuts!
So what is this all about then? It's like walking up a hill thinking you have reached the top, only to find another hill, then another, then another. Call it curiosity, nosiness, persistence or flipping annoying, I HAVE TO get to the top. I get the same feeling looking at a maps and seeing the gold mine of tracks and trails to be explored. I HAVE TO cycle (or walk) them.
RoutesOnTracks is my way of capturing these experiences and sharing them for anyone interested. Some of the adventures come with a diary, some I just let the pictures speak.
So world, here is RoutesOnTracks and if you are just passing through, came here by accident, of followed a link because you are interested, hope you enjoy the pictures and stories and may our tracks cross in person one day!
